1why do we do an accumulation test?
Test safeties to make sure they are fitted and sized correctly. they need to relieve all the steam generated at high fire without pressure going above more than 6% of MAWP
2step 1
present will be the engineer, fireman, and inspector. Fire man will watch gauge glass without moving. I will check the water level in the boiler and DA for enough treated water.
3step 2
shunt the high limit and pressure troll and operating troll
4step 3
close all steam outlets( non return and main stop) open free flowing drain
5step 4
put the boiler in manual and turn up to max fire
6step 5
safeties pop and the pressure should not go more than 6% above popping pressure
7step 6
with inspector satisfied, lower the fire rate gradually. Safeties should reset at more than 4% or less than 2% of the popping pressure
8step 7
bring boiler to low fire if inspector is satisfied
9step 8
once pressure is below the control setting remove the shunt from high limit and operating control
10step 9
make sure boiler pressure is below the main steam header pressure
11step 10
open the bypass on the main steam stop valve, close free flowing drain
12step 11
open non return and main steam stop. allowing the non return to bring the boiler back online when the boiler pressure is slightly above header pressure
13step 12
put boiler back into auto
