What happens when a deck is made public in OutLearn, and how to have one removed.
Decks you make public are visible to everyone, in the app and on our public website outlearnapp.com/decks, and search engines such as Google can list them. Next to a deck we show the first name of your account, never your email address, and no profile picture on the website. Decks you keep private are not shown.
To organise public decks, an automated system reads the name and the first cards of a newly published deck to choose its subject and language and, when the name is unclear, to suggest a clearer title. It uses Google's Vertex AI service in our own Google Cloud project; according to Google's terms for this service, the content is not used to train its models, and we share it with no one else. We also record which accounts added a public deck, only to count each person once.
When you make a deck public, you give OutLearn a free, worldwide licence to store, display and distribute it, and to let other people add a copy to their own library for personal study. OutLearn may show public decks in the app and on its public website (outlearnapp.com/decks), including to search engines, together with the first name of your account. You keep ownership of your cards.
To help people find decks, OutLearn may sort public decks by subject and language, count how many people added them, and show a clearer title next to a deck whose own name is unclear. This is done automatically. The name of your deck stays unchanged in your own account.
Only make a deck public if you have the right to share its content. Do not publish other people's copyrighted material, personal data or anything illegal. If you find content that breaks someone's rights, report it in the app (swipe a deck and tap Report) or write to outlearnapp@gmail.com and we will review it and remove it when needed.
You can make a deck private or delete it at any time: it then disappears from OutLearn's search and from the public website. Copies that other people added to their own library before, and copies kept by search engines, may remain for some time.
You can have a public deck removed or your data deleted at any time: make the deck private or delete it in the app, delete your account in Settings, or write to outlearnapp@gmail.com.
