1
If the left alternator fails and will not reset, how do you get electrical power to the left bus to keep the left battery charged?
First, try resetting the left alternator by cycling the left alternator switch OFF and then back to ON. If the left alternator will not reset, then to get electrical power from the right alternator to the left bus, put the left alternator switch into the BUS TIE position. You always put the inoperative alternator’s switch in bus tie.
2
What is the minimum fuel restriction for takeoff in the Baron?
Above the yellow arc on both fuel gauges (atleast 13 gallons in each wing).
3
Each engine on the KSU Baron produces ___ horse power?
300
4
What is the voltage and amperage output of each of the KSU Baron?
28 volts, 100 Amps.
5
The peak ampere draw of the KSU Baron's engine starters is?
300 Amps
6
The voltage of the left and right batteries in the KSU Baron is?
24V
7
How do you lean the mixture during a full-throttle takeoff/climb at 2700 RPM or a full-throttle cruise climb at 2500 RPM?
Lean the mixtures manually to the target fuel flow indicated by the cyan pointers on the fuel-flow gauges. But only when at full throttle and either 2500 RPM or 2700 RPM. To transition to cruise climb, reduce RPM to 2490, then increase back to 2500. Once the cruise altitude, airspeed, and power setting the pilot must manually lean using the EGT. Lean to either 20 degrees lean of peak EGT or to 20 degrees rich to peak EGT.
8
What should automatically happen if there is an engine induction air blockage?
The alternate air door of the induction system should open automatically to provide oxygen to burn the fuel.
9
What are two conditions that would cause the gear warning horn to activate while airborned?
Flaps fully down AND below 13" of manifold pressure.
10
What should you do immedietly if the yellow R START ENGD caution alert stays on after starting the right engine?
Shut down the engine immediatly to prevent damage to the electrical system and the engine starter. Turn off the right alternator and the right battery. Do not Takeoff.
11
What is the minimum temperature for inflating the deice boots?
-40 degree Celsius
12
The minimum airspeed in the KSU baron for flight in icing conditions is?
130 KIAS
13
The Baron starter cranking time period is?
30 seconds in any 4-minute period to prevent.
14
What might happen if you do not follow proper procedure for turning off the cabin heater?
If you do not allow the heater to cool down at least 2 minutes after turning off the heat switch, either by flying or by the eletric fan, then the over-heat circuit breaker in the nose-wheel well might trip. Then the heater would then not work for the next flight.
15
The minimum altitude for performing the VMC demonstration on the KSU Baron for flight training and check rides is?
5000 feet AGL
16
Airspeed and range are reduced when using the air conditioner by approximately?
3%
17
The Baron is unairworthy if more than __ Vortex Generators are missing or damaged.
