1
What are some facts about the glomerular corpuscle ?
Function = filtration
Filters 180 L of fluid
99% reabosorbed 1% gets turned into urine
2
What is NFP?
Net filtration pressure = 10mmHg
3
What is the equation for NFP?
glomerular pressure (55) - (capsule hydrostatic pressure (15) + colloid osmotic pressure (30)) = 10 mmHg
4
What is GFR?
Glomerular Filtartuon Rate
120L/min
directly depends on NFP
5
What are the five ways we regulate filtration in the kidney ?
Myogenic mechanism
Tubuloglomerlular feedbacks
Sympathetic NS
Parasympathetic NS
Renin
6
What is the myogenic mechanism ?
Controls affernt A.
sensitive to BP changes
7
What is the Tubuloglomerular feedback?
The macula densa monitors the filtrate concentration
8
How does the sympathetic NS control filtration?
release norepinephrine causing vasoconstriction of affernt artery causing lower GFR causing lower dieresis
9
How does the parasympathetic NS control filtration ?
Releases ACH which triggers vasodilation of Aff A increasing GFR which increase Diuresis
10
How does Renin work to control filtration?
JG cells produce rennin when they sense a drop in BP > rennin then goes to liver where angiotensin I is produced > this moves to lungs where ACE converts to angiotensin II
11
What are some affects of angiotensin II?
increased sodium reabosrption
vasoconstriction of Effernt A
Triggers ADh release to increase h2o rebasorptoin
12
What type of tissue is the proximal convoluted tube and function?
simple cuboidlal with microvilli
reabsorobs 70% of glomerular filtrate
13
What is the function of the the thin segment of the loop of henle ?
to allow water back in
14
What is the function of the thick segment of the loop of henle ?
active transport of Na and is impermeable to water thus creating a sodium concentration gradient
15
What tissue is the Distal convoluted tube made of and general function?
Simple cuboidial epitghelium and modifiable water permeability
16
How does ADH affect the Distal convoluted tubule ?
Low water concentration in blood  stimulates brain to increase ADH.
• Increased ADH = increases permeability of the tubule = increases water absorption.
17
How does aldosterone affect the distal convoluted tubule ?
In response to Low blood pressure  Secreted by the adrenal glands to stimulate increase re-absorption of Na (conservation of Na) followed by water  increase blood volume  increases blood pressure.
18
How does ANP affect the distal convoluted tubule?
When high BP or Volume Cardiac cells release it leading to inhibition of na reabsorpotion
19
What are the 2 types of cells found in the collecting tube and what are there roles?
Principkle cells = looks for ADH and Adlosterone work to reabsorb Na and Cl and water
Intercalated cells = keeps homeostasis of ph through transport of H ion
