2S phase
Centrioles duplicated, daughter begins to grow. (duplication assisted by G1/s CDK).
3G2
Daughter centriole grows out of mother centriole completely. Mcdk will sever the protein tether holding both together. Centriole Complex is split
4Mitosis
Each centriole complex becomes a separate Mitotic Tubular Organizing Complex. Nucleates an array of microtubules called aster.
53 kinds of spindle microtubules:
Astral microtubules - Radiate in all directions from the centrosome. Separates the poles and orients the position of spindle.
Kinetochore microtubules - Attach to the kinetochore, located at centromere of chromosome. Attaches chromosome to spindle.
Overlap microtubules - Interlocks at the equator of spindle, responsible for bipolar symmetrical shape of spindle.
64 major types of motor proteins:
Kinesin5 - Slides mitrotubules past another, separate centrosomes
Kinesin14 - Pull poles together, works against Kinesin5.
Kinesin4/10 - Push the attached chromosome away from pole
Dynein - Links the plus end of astral microtubules to actin cytoskeleton.
7Describe the spindle assembly
+ end directed motor proteins operating overlapping microtubules push 2 halves of spindle apart.
End directed pull together
