5how can attitudes become conditioned
by behviour that is successful should be reinforced. praise from a coach will develop positive attitude towards your sport and coach
6negative attitudes
when there are negative role models who dont champion the values of sport and when a bad experience e.g injury occurs or when there is no reinforcement by the coach to change behaviour

12cognative dissonance
when new information is givern to a performer to cause unease and motivate change
134 ways a coach could use cognative dissonance
1. player may be givern new information or presented with a new form of activity so that they begin to question their current attitudes and become motivated to change them. coach may point out the benifits of a new formation or training plan that the player has shown a negative approach to and almost challenge the current thinking of the player.
2. making the activity fun and varying practice making it more enjoyable. if a player enjoys it their attitude is more likely to change
3. using rewards as reinforcement
4.coach could bring a specialist or role model to encorage participation
14persuasive communication
sports performers can be talked into changing their attitudes. due to attitudes being fairly stable and set core belifes a performer may be resistant to change them. the communication givern to them needs to be relevant and important and the message givern needs to be understood. the giver of the message need to be of high status. the coach needs to attempt this at the right time.
