BIO 112 Cellular Respiration Glycolysis

We are using 2 ATP to phosphorylate glucose into 2 pyruvates

False, Glycolysis can still occur in the absence of oxygen

4 ATP is gained (Net 2 ATP) through substrate level phosphorylation, 2 NAD+ is reduced to 2 NADH because it gains an electron from H atom.

When enzyme transfers a phosphate group from substrates to ADP creating an ATP. Small amount of ATP created from process.

Cytoplasm

Glucose + 2ADP + 2Pi + 2NAD+ = 2 pyruvate + 2 net ATP + 2NADH + 2H2O + 2H+

2 ATP is spent to phosphorylate glucose and split it into 2 pyruvates.

2 Pyruvates, 4 ATP(2 net ATP), 2NADH, 2H2O, 2H+

Glucose, 2NAD+, 2ADP, 2 Phosphate groups

2 Pyruvates, 2NADH, 4 ATP(2 net ATP), 2H2O, 2H+
