Revision: 1.2 Systems

A simplified representation of reality

Any set of interacting or interdependent compononents organised to create a functional whole, and produces emergent properties

Areas where energy or matter are accumulated inside a system

The level of the storage increases

Both materials and energy

Transfers move energy or matter from one place to another without changing it, transformations move energy and matter and do change their state or form

Negative feedback dampens effects and promotes return to stability in human body temperatures and predator-prey relationships meanwhile positive feedback amplifies changes and drive the system towards a tipping point

An ecosystem’s tendency to avoid tipping points and maintain stability
