Core Concepts Overview

Workforce Scheduler is a module in the WFC suite that allows schedulers from various sources to create and maintain schedules for users.

A scheduling job is a set of work responsibilities that act as a unit of measurement for the labour resources required to complete a particular amount of work in a specific location.

A scheduling location is any fixed organizational entity for which work requirements are measured and employees are scheduled into scheduling jobs to address those work requirements.

An organizational map is a hierarchical representation of locations in the organization and the jobs associated with each location.

An organizational job is an identifier that represents a set of responsibilities and duties for work performed in the location to which the organizational job is assigned.

The Workload Planner workspace is where the number of people needed for a shift is determined. The Schedule Planner workspace is where employees are slotted into shifts based on the numbers determined in the Workload Planner.

A staffing plan is the number of employees that need to be scheduled for each scheduling job in a location for each span in the scheduled period.

The first workspace is the Forecast Planner workspace which uses volume and labour numbers to determine staffing needs. The second workspace is the Schedule Planner which schedules employees to meet the staffing need based on volume and forecast.
