1
learning
legit just learning. getting new shit.
2
habituation
responding less to a stimuli that happens a lot
3
association learning
put hand in hot stove ouch, hot stove associated with pain, conditioned to not put hand on hot stove
4
cognitive learning
knowledge through experience
5
classical conditioning
unconscious learning
6
behaviorism
psych is objective and stdies behavior
7
conditioned response
automatic response from training to previously neutral stimulus
8
conditioned stimulus
stimulus made to trigger conditioned response
9
aquisition
1st stages of kearning when response is established
10
high-order conditioning
EX: after pairing a bell with food and making the bell a conditioned stimulus that elicits a conditioned response like saliva (1st order conditioning), a light could be paired with the bell. If only the light elicits a conditioned response like saliva, thats high order.
11
spontaneous recovery
conditioned response reemerges after extinction of conditioned stimulus for a while
12
operant conditioning
learning with rewards and punishment to modify behavior
13
law of effect
behavior w/ pleasant consequences likely to be repeated and vice versa
14
operant chamber
(skinner box) lab thing to modify animal behavior (its the rat box)
15
reinforcement
consequence following an operant response that attempts to increase that response in the future
16
shaping
trying to get a specific response by reinforcing similar responses
17
discriminative stimulus
EX: pigeons taught to peck keys when lit up red bc they got food. green keys gave shock so they didnt peck. discriminative stimulus is color of key.
18
positive reinforcement
give something (head pat) to reinforce behavior
19
negative reinforcement
take something away (stop yelling) to reinforce behavior
20
primary reinforcer
occur naturally w/o learning. ex: food, water, sleep, air
21
conditioned reinforcer
previously neutral stimulus. when paired w/ primary reinforcer gets same properties. ex: money.
22
reinforcement schedule
EX: child gets piece of candy every time they use the potty
23
continuous reinforcement
reinforcement of behavior every time it happens
24
partial (intermittent) reinforcement
reinforcing only sometimes the desired behavior occurs
25
fixed-ratio schedule
response reinforced after specific number of responses
26
variable-ratio schedule
response reinforced after variable number of responses
27
fixed-interval schedule
reinforcement at consistent times. ex: child rewarded once a week fir cleaning room
28
variable-interval schedule
response rewarded after unpredictable amount of time
29
punishment
consequense following operant response that decreases likelihood of response
30
biofeedback
EX: relaxation technique to turn down headache brainwaves
31
respondant behavior
evoked by specific stimulus that will consistently occur when stimulus is presented
32
operant behavior
