1
What is the role of the parathyroid gland?
produces PTH parathyroid hormone which controls homeostasis of (Ca, phosphate)
2
What are some charecteristics of PTH?
produced by chief cells
inhibits hypercalcemia
increase rate of absorption in GI tract
Increase rate of osteoclastiticty

increase rate of absorption in GI tract
Increase rate of osteoclastiticty
3
How is PTH regulated?
directly by parathyroid gland by level of Ca in blood
4
What are the two general parts of the adrenal gland? and what do the produce?
Adrenal Cortex - hormones involved with homeostasis
adrenal meddula - epinephrine and norepinephrine
adrenal meddula - epinephrine and norepinephrine
5
What are the 3 parts of the adrenal cortex?
zona glomerulosa
zona fasciculate
zona reticularis
zona fasciculate
zona reticularis
6
Where is the Zona glomerulosa found and what does it produce and the target?
Found in adrenal cortex,
produces - mineralcorticoids (mainly aldosterone)
target - kidney to regulate Na and K homeostasis and water balance by stim reabsorption of Na and excretion of K

7
Where is the zona fasciculate found and what does it products and the target?
Found in adrenal cortex
produces - glucocorticoids (mainly cortisol)
secrets - CRH, ACTH, Glucocorticoiuds
targets - liver, stims glucogenisis
adipose - breaking down lipids
adrenal medulla - convert norepinephrine to epinephrine

8
What is CRH?
Corticotropin releasing hormone from hypothalamus
9
Whatis ACTH?
adrenocorticotropic hormone from Ant pit gland
10
Where is the Zona reticular is found and function?
Adrenal cortex
produces minimal amount of sex hormone
produces minimal amount of sex hormone
