CHEM 101 Test 2 Microscope Chapter

Real image is when rays converge while virtual image is when rays diverge. Virtual image would be mirror reflection. Real image would be cinema screen.

Stereomicroscope, Biological scope, Polarizing scope, Comparison scope, Fluorescence scope, Electron microscope.

Magnify the image produced by the objective lens. Directly observe the object the microscope user is examining.

2 objective lenses, low mag, used for preparing samples

Common microscope, X-Y stage

Bertrand lens. Used to determine the difference between glass and any other similar substance.

Polarizer - first filter beneath specimen, Analyzer - 2nd filter above specimen, Extinction - No light passing through 2nd filter.

Used for ballistics and hair, 2 stages.

UV light source, Quartz lenses, Excitation filter to excite sample.

Electrons are shot down through a tunnel onto sample and create image. High mag and resolution.

All other objective lens are in focus.
