1
What is the OSI model?
A seven-layer conceptual model describing how network communication works.
2
What are the seven OSI layers in order?
Physical Data Link Network Transport Session Presentation and Application.
3
What does the Physical layer do?
Transmits raw bits through physical media such as cables and wireless signals.
4
What does the Data Link layer do?
Handles local network communication framing and MAC addressing.
5
What does the Network layer do?
Handles logical addressing and routing between networks.
6
What does the Transport layer do?
Provides end-to-end data delivery using protocols such as TCP and UDP.
7
What does the Session layer do?
Establishes manages and terminates communication sessions.
8
What does the Presentation layer do?
Handles data formatting translation encryption and compression.
9
What does the Application layer do?
Provides network services used by applications.
10
What is a star topology?
A network layout in which devices connect to a central switch or hub.
11
What is a bus topology?
A network layout in which devices share a single main communication cable.
12
What is a ring topology?
A network layout in which devices connect in a circular path.
13
What is a mesh topology?
A network layout in which devices have multiple connections to other devices.
14
What is the main advantage of a star topology?
A failure in one individual device connection generally does not affect other devices.
15
What is a disadvantage of a star topology?
Failure of the central switch or hub can disrupt the entire network.
16
What is Wi-Fi 4?
IEEE 802.11n; supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies.
17
What is Wi-Fi 5?
IEEE 802.11ac; primarily operates on the 5 GHz frequency band.
18
What is Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E?
Both use IEEE 802.11ax; Wi-Fi 6E additionally supports the 6 GHz band.
19
What is Wi-Fi 7?
IEEE 802.11be; supports 2.4 GHz 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands.
20
What does HTTP 404 mean?
Not Found; the requested webpage or resource could not be found.
21
What are common HTTP status codes?
200 means OK 301 means permanently moved 400 means bad request 401 means unauthorized 403 means forbidden 404 means not found 429 means too many requests 500 means internal server error 502 means bad gateway 503 means service unavailable and 504 means gateway timeout.
