1(Basics of Electricity)
Serial Connection
Negative is wired to positive and to end such that the electrons have only one path to flow through the circuit. The current is constant, but the voltage is the sum of all the components.
2(Basics of Electricity)
Parallel Connection
All the negative and positive connections are wired together. This allows multiple paths for electrons to travel. In this case, the voltage is constant and the amps are the sum of the components.
3(Basics of Electricity)
Disadvantage of AC
An inverter is required to create AC from DC. Inverters will break down eventually.
4(Basics of Electricity)
Advantage of AC
All modern electronics run on AC
5(Basics of Electricity)
Disadvantage of DC
Not as efficient as AC, devices need to be closer together with thicker cable.
6(Basics of Electricity)
Advantage of DC
Works with the PV panels and charges the batteries. Runs the pumps, fridge and DC lights without an inverter.
7(Basics of Electricity)
AC
When the direction of the current reverses it is called alternating current.
It alternates 60 times per sec (60 Hz) in the US, 50 times per (50 Hz) in Europe
8(Basics of Electricity)
DC
When the current always flows from negative to positive.
